About
Hi. I'm Pavel (Paul) Buchik. A cinematographer, colorist, photographer, visual artist, voiceover artist, sound designer, and composer.
My entire life has been defined by the intersection of image and sound. A journey with visuals began in 2003 through analog photography and traditional darkroom printing. I remain deeply passionate about working with film and exploring the core physics of image formation.
A long period of my life was dedicated to studying design. I hold a Master’s degree in Graphic Design from the Ural State University of Architecture and Art. Following graduation, I worked with magazines and digital publications, focusing on editorial design, layout, branding, and illustration.
My visual language is inspired by the cinematography of Robby Müller and Roger Deakins, alongside the directorial visions of David Lynch, Jim Jarmusch, and Andrey Zvyagintsev.
Light is never just light; shadow is never just shadow; color is never just color. I am constantly listening to what lighting and composition are trying to say—seeking the world, the mood, and the hidden reality that emerge through visible forms. It is a compelling, never-ending fascination.
